Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 August 2026

The short version

  • jobctl finds job listings, scores them against your CV, and writes tailored resumes. It does not find you a job, and nothing here promises one.
  • Job listings are somebody else's content. We copy them exactly as published. They go stale, get filled, and sometimes contain mistakes — check the original before you apply.
  • A tailored resume is a draft you are sending under your own name. Read it before you submit it. You are responsible for what an employer receives from you.
  • CV Credits are not money. They expire, they cannot be cashed out, and they are gone once spent.
  • Recruiter contact details are for contacting that recruiter about that job. Not for mailing lists, not for bulk outreach, not for resale.
  • Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your profile.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those points.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and jobctl ("we", "us"), the operator of jobctl.io. You can reach us at [email protected].

They apply when you use jobctl — including if you run a search as a guest without creating an account. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your personal data and forms part of these terms.

2. Who can use jobctl

You must be at least 16 years old. One person, one account — do not share your login, and do not create additional accounts to get around plan limits or repeat a free allowance.

Everything you tell us about yourself must be accurate, and you must keep your password safe. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think somebody else has got into your account.

3. What jobctl does, and what it does not promise

We search job portals for you, score what we find against your CV, and can write a resume tailored to a specific listing. That is the whole of it.

We do not promise you a job. Not an interview, not a reply, not an offer. A match score is information to help you decide where to spend your effort — it is not a prediction, and no employer sees it.

Listings come from third parties and we reproduce them as published. We do not write, edit, summarise or translate job adverts, which means we also cannot correct them. A listing may be out of date, already filled, duplicated, or simply wrong about the salary. Verify anything that matters on the original posting before you apply. Where we know a posting has closed we say so, but we find that out by looking, not by being told.

Which portals we search can change without notice. We add portals, remove them, restrict them to paid plans, and switch them off when a source breaks or asks us to stop. No plan entitles you to any particular portal remaining available.

Recruiter contact details, where we show them, come from the advert itself or a public web search. We never guess an address. We cannot promise they are current, or that anyone will reply.

4. Your CV and your content

Your CV stays yours. You give us permission to store it, read it, extract skills from it, send relevant parts to our AI providers, and use it to score listings and generate resumes — all of which is what the product does and none of which happens unless you upload something.

You confirm that any CV you upload is yours to upload and that what it says about you is accurate. Do not upload somebody else's CV.

We never send your CV to employers or recruiters. We do not screen you on their behalf, rank you against other candidates, or sell access to your profile.

You can delete your CV at any time. Closing your account starts the erasure described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Tailored resumes and AI

How it works. A tailored resume is generated from your CV and nothing else. Our system re-orders, emphasises and rewords what you already wrote to suit a particular listing. It is designed and checked so that it does not invent skills, employers, job titles or dates.

Designed not to is not the same as cannot. These are language models, and no automated check is perfect.

So: read it before you send it. A tailored resume is a draft. Once you submit it to an employer it is your representation about your history, and you are responsible for its accuracy — not us. If anything in a generated resume is wrong, do not send it.

No promise about outcomes. We do not guarantee a resume will pass any employer's applicant tracking system, reach a human, or produce a reply. Our score for a generated resume is our own measure, not theirs.

6. Plans, payment and CV Credits

Plans

Free and guest use is available with lower limits. Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically for the same period until you cancel.

Cancel any time from your profile. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate a partial period.

We may change prices or what a plan includes. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email, and the change takes effect at your next renewal — so you can cancel first if you do not want it.

Prices exclude any tax we are required to collect.

CV Credits

One credit generates one tailored resume for one job.

  • Credits are not money. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged or cashed out, and are a licence to use a feature rather than a stored balance of funds.
  • Credits included with a paid plan reset each month. They do not roll over.
  • Purchased credits expire 365 days after you buy them. We email you before that happens. The expiry date is shown in your account, and if we ever change the period it applies to credits bought afterwards, never to ones you already hold.
  • A spent credit is not refundable, including where you are unhappy with the resume it produced. Generation costs us money whatever you think of the result.
  • If you close your account, any credits you still hold are gone. They are not refunded and not restored if you come back. We show you what you are giving up before you confirm — but the decision, and the loss, are yours.
  • Buying credits requires an active paid plan.

Refunds

If something we charged you for did not work, tell us at [email protected] and we will put it right — a refund, credits back, or both, depending on what went wrong.

Beyond that we do not refund a period you have already started, and we do not refund credits you have spent.

If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, you have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days. Because our service is delivered digitally and immediately, you are asked to agree at checkout that performance begins straight away and that you lose that right once it does. Nothing in this section takes away a right you have by law.

7. Using jobctl properly

Do not:

  • Access jobctl by automated means. No scripts, scrapers, bots or crawlers against our site or API, and no reselling or redistributing what you get from us.
  • Misuse recruiter contact details. They are there so you can contact that person about that job. Do not add them to a mailing list, use them for bulk or automated outreach, sell them, or pass them on. Recruiters did not sign up to us and did not agree to hear from everybody.
  • Spam employers. Mass, automated or indiscriminate applications through details you found here.
  • Work around limits — plan caps, rate limits, bot protection — or create extra accounts to do the same.
  • Attack or probe the service, reverse engineer it, or try to reach data that is not yours.
  • Upload anything unlawful, or anyone else's personal data without a right to.
  • Use jobctl to break any other website's terms.

"Unlimited" means unlimited for ordinary personal job hunting. If usage on an unlimited plan looks automated, commercial or shared between people, we may rate-limit or suspend the account and will tell you why.

8. Suspension and termination

You can close your account whenever you like, from your profile. What happens to your data afterwards is in the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully or fraudulently, or that puts the service or other users at risk. Where the problem is fixable we will say what it is and give you a fair chance to fix it first; where it is serious or unlawful we may act immediately.

If we close your account for a breach, unused credits and any remaining paid period are forfeited. If we close it for any other reason — including if we discontinue the service — we refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

9. Availability

We work to keep jobctl running but we do not offer a service level guarantee. Searches depend on third-party job portals and third-party AI providers, and any of them can be slow, rate-limited or unavailable without warning. Maintenance happens.

If a search fails we tell you, and we do not charge a search against your plan for a run that produced nothing through our fault.

10. Our liability

The service is provided "as is". Beyond what these terms say, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the service, the accuracy of listings, or the results you get.

We are not liable for: business losses, lost profits, lost opportunities, a job you did not get, a job you did get, or a decision you made on the strength of a score, a listing or a generated resume.

Our total liability to you, for everything arising out of your use of jobctl, is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 100.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot be excluded. If you are a consumer, the limits above apply only as far as the law where you live allows.

11. Your responsibility to us

If you break these terms and that causes a claim against us — a recruiter you spammed, an employer you misled, content you had no right to upload — you agree to cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it.

12. Our rights in the service

jobctl, its software, its scoring method, its vocabularies and its branding are ours. Using the service gives you permission to use it, and nothing else. You may keep and use the resumes and results it generates for you, for your own job search.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use jobctl after that date means you accept it. If you do not, close your account and we will refund any unused paid period.

Everything else — clarifications, corrections — takes effect when posted here, with the date below updated.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction], and the courts of [jurisdiction] have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and the mandatory consumer protections of that country still apply.

Talk to us first. Most things get fixed by an email to [email protected] faster than by anything else.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.

15. Contact

[email protected] — for anything about your account, a charge, or the service.

[email protected] — for data protection requests, and for recruiters asking to be removed.

You can also use the contact form on the site. Please don't reply to our automated emails — nobody reads that mailbox.
